I am an ecologist interested in how species respond to changes in habitat and climate. My research investigates species’ persistence within landscapes under environmental change, with an applied focus on the role of microclimate and landscape characteristics, such as habitat quality, area and connectivity, in providing resilience to populations. Working with land managers, conservation organisations and government, I have co-designed spatial strategies for nature conservation and land use, such as the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Nature Recovery Strategy. Butterflies are a real passion of mine, with their ecology and conservation forming a focus for much of my work.
