James Lowe is an interdisciplinary researcher with extensive experience working in collaborative multi-disciplinary projects. Jim’s
overarching research interests concern the conceptualisation and investigation of biological variation. Towards that end, his recent work includes an examination of the deployment of DNA barcoding in taxonomy, conservation research and practice, as well as environmental monitoring. This builds on his contributions and findings as part of the European Research Council-funded ‘TRANSGENE: Medical translation and the history of modern genomics’ project (
https://transgene.sps.ed.ac.uk/) at the University of Edinburgh from 2016 to 2022.
